The Fuel Depot

Fuel, ammunition, territory. The Remnants count all three the same.

Recorded history

The Fuel Depot is one of the few pre-Fall installations in the region still doing approximately the job it was built for.

Remnant doctrine names fuel first among the things worth taking, ahead of ammunition and territory, and the reasoning is not sentimental: a doctrine that requires momentum requires something to move on. A force that stops moving stops being a force, and the Depot is where stopping is prevented.

Strategic assessment

Fuel is the difference between a force that arrives and a force that sets out. Vehicles, generators, pumps and lamps all draw on the same store, and a group that has it can be in two places in a day where a group without it manages one.

That advantage is invisible in any single engagement and decisive across a season.

The Water Works does the same thing better, which means the Depot is frequently the site a force settles for. Settling for it has decided more of this region's fighting than taking it has.
